Investing is one of those skills that takes a lot of time to develop and this is why a lot of people turn to an investments newsletter or even several investment newsletters. I want to share some of my experience with you today about investment newsletter advice and perhaps give you my investment newsletter reviews. Now bear in mind that I have by no means tried all the stock investing newsletters out there, but I have found a couple that work pretty well if you can maintain discipline.
Now Hulbert became famous for tracking the performance of many of the bigger financial newsletters out there, but I have found that over time his service has been too big and ungainly to be relied upon. Although he still tracks the major investment newsletter services and there are some that do seem to perform over time quite well. However, I have found that the best investing newsletters are the ones on the periphery, the contrarians and the outsiders. The investment writers who are grappling and scrapping on the edges of the financial markets. I’ve always been a contrarian investor and it has served me quite well.
Some of the best investment newsletters that I have been using lately include those offered by Agora and the folks at Early to Rise. Now both of these companies offer several investing products and investment newsletter, so finding the best investment newsletter is not an easy task. And I will say, that the price of a newsletter does not necessarily correlate with the financial success and investement returns of said newsletter. In fact, I’ve had a lot of happy profits with some of the cheap investment newsletters out there. For example, Capital & Crisis by Chris Mayer has performed very well for me as at the time of writing this. Now I’m reticent in saying that, because by the time you read this that might have changed.
So my best advice for you before you buy an investment newsletter is to sort through the hyperbole on the sales page and sift it through your own investing style. For example, I am a value investor and as such Chris Mayer’s Capital & Crisis fits very well within my investing frame of mind. I would also urge you to review as much of the historical success of the investment newsletter that you are considering before putting your hard earned money into it’s recommendations. You can lose your shirt if you’re not careful and you haven’t done your due diligence.
As far as the free investment newsletter goes, don’t discount these either. Many are worthy of consideration as they investing minds behind these free letters are looking to build a subscriber base and perhaps to sell you on the back end. So they need to prove themselves in order to build that trust so you’ll buy and products and services that they recommend. But if I can leave you with parting advice. As with all things related to investing, it is a skill that can be learned, so learn the fundamentals of sound investing before you put your trust in an investment guru’s newsletter. The more you know about investing, the better the likelihood that you’ll choose an investment newsletter that will be profitable for you.
