This is the LG 42LD520 LCD HDTV, the best 42 inch TV overall. Why do I say this? For a few reasons. The first is for price. This Panasonic VIERA 42 inch LCD TV also have 1080p full HD for excellent clarity and sharpness of image. You can currently save 27% off retail by clicking here and buying on Amazon. VIERA by Panasonic is very handy for showing pictures and movies from your own cameras. It allows full HD images to be shown on your TV through the integrated SD slot offering thumbnail navigation. VIERA link also allows you to integrate and interlink all devices and operate them from the VIERA remote by attaching them all together with a HDMI cable. This is for things like your DVD, camera and home sound system as examples.
This Panasonic 42 inch LCD TV is also slightly cheaper by around 50 bucks or so than the first place 42 inch LCD TV the LG. But it has a much lower contrast ration at 20,000:1, and I’m a fan of better contrast for gaming, action movies and dark scenes. Although this contrast ratio though seemingly large, doesn’t really make the biggest difference visually, if you are particular like I am you will notice them side by side and I’d sooner pay 50 to 100 bucks more for better contrast.

If you’re looking for the cheapest 42 inch LCD TV out there then you’ll be hard pressed to find anything cheaper than the cheap 42 inch LCD TV shown to the left. This is the iSymphony 42 inch LCD TV which is about a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the other 2. You can also save an additional 21% off retail by clicking here and buying from Amazon. This may be a cheap LCD TV, but it is certainly not without a multitude of features. For example, this iSymphony LC42iF56 42 inch LCD TV offers 1080p full high definition just like the others. It also has terrific reviews with over 15 5 stars from Amazon customers.
It does unfortunately have the lowest contrast ration at 10,000:1 but you can’t have everything for this price point. And besides, if you use this 42 inch LCD TV in the basement or other dark room, I’m pretty certain you won’t notice much difference with the contrast especially if you don’t have anything to compare it to. It does include an integrated NTSC/ATSC tuner and full function remote as well as 2 HDMI inputs for your needs.
This would be a great buy for a 42 inch LCD TV especially as a second TV for the rec room. I should mention just quickly, another great LCD TV is the Samsung 42 inch LCD TV, particularly the Samsung UN40C5000. Though truthfully it is only a 40 inch LCD TV. Check it out here. It is also one of the most expensive LCD TVs especially considering it is a 40 inch LCD and not a 42 inch LCD. But it also scored the highest marks from Consumer Reports.
